The Cedrone Story. Loreto's Parents.

our Cedrone history.

The journey of a father of two, twice widowed & his third wife, a mother (also widowed) & her daughter, who become the Cedrone family is quite remarkable.
UPDATE to the documents above. We do not know for sure if Loreto married 3 x. It is only "told," as such. Following the death of his first wife he was to marry her sister to care for his children, but she dies within nine months. We now know his first wife was Donata (Rufo).
Before looking at the images. Look at the family dymanics:
Loreto is twice married as is Maria. Both are widowed with children. They marry & have children:
All the kids share the same father, except Nancy born to Nicholas Salvucci.
All the kids share the same mother, Maria, except Harry & Vi, born to Donata Rufo.
Harry & Vi are then 1/2 brother/sister to the next four, Christine, Ann, Clara & Sonny. (1/2 because they share only the same father)
Nancy is also 1/2 sister to the next four (1/2 because she only shares the same mother).
But Harry & Vi are not related (by blood) to Nancy, nor she to them because...
Harry & Vi are born to Loreto & Donata. Nancy to Nicholas & Maria. Therefore Harry & Vi are step brother & sister to Nancy since they do not share a parent!

Loreto's Parents (?)

These painting belong to Christine (Cedrone) Gentile.
They're the only images of Loreto Cedrone's parents.
While visiting Christine I was able to remove them from their frames to photograph them. Each is cracked, losing pigment & the painting of the two of them was laquered at some point. The restoration now gives us an idea of what Loreto's parents looked like. Click to see them full size.

The only image of ALL the Cedrone siblings (which I created) including Loreto & Maria

Who knew?
Based on 1952 notes written on the back of headstone photos from my mother to her sister Clara we read, "Your flower is near Pa's name and you can see his name is on the wrong side."

Wrong side? Let's look at the first mistake. The engraving doesn't make sense. Why refer to Maria as "his wife," unless stated otherwise it is assumed she is.
But until the photo & notes were recently found no one (alive today) knew that Loreto's name was originally on the wrong side. As you can see by the stone today, there was a significant mistake made, to correct it required the headstone to be etched & re-engraved. Maria is not deceased in the original photo. They pre- engraved her name & birth date.
It is not known when the stone is corrected. I'm about two in this 8mm of me with my parents & as you can see the stone is still wrong which lends me to believe that if it wasn't corrected some 6 years after Loreto died than they waited until Maria passed away.
Lastly, READ the descriptions of the first few photos in this album. We now have for the first time, photos of Loreto's first wife, Donata (Rufo):
