Remember When.Three Jolly Old Bums. Memories.

Remember When. Take a look back with the video of the same name. We said when we turned gray, when the children grow up and move away, we won't be sad, we'll be glad, for all the life we've had....And we'll remember when.

Remember the good times in the slide shows:
YouTube - CedroneTocciRememberWhenMontage
Three Jolly Old Bums. This music montage is a just potpourri of fun images used to accompany Uncle Harry. I recorded him on a portable cassette deck in the summer of '72 during a visit to Delaware. "Performed," in his trailer, the kitchen was just a step away. In the background you hear talking. While it may be hard to distinguish who it is, you clearly hear my mother laughing. At the end you'll hear me say, "I have to play that back." George Cuatt (laughing) says, that was a good one.
. Uncle Harry chuckles not realizing it was recorded. It is a treasured keepsake of a much simpler time. He would pass within five years. Although he recorded himself on many (reel to reel) tapes, none exist. This audio cassette, which I transferred in it's entirety to digital (mp3), remains the only link we have to his laughter & song. Have a good time singing along:UncleHarrysThreeJollyOldBums

A minute of fine craftsmanship. See the Tocci 8mm column to your right. Click the video to begin your restoration. This home is on Bedford Road just before/after Romer Avenue. An enormous undertaking you stripped layers of paint by "burning," them off.

Donald. Play Ball! Army.

This is Donald's Pleasantville Dwarfs (summer) baseball league scrap book from the late 40's / early 50's. Click on an image in the slideshow to read the names of the players. See how many neighborhood kids you recognize. Or at the very least names/families you knew of in town .I had a little fun blending images into the newspaper clippings.
Here you see Donald playing with the 1949 Dwarfs & a years later in high school.
Out of the 13 players in the 1949 team photo Donald stands in a spot where you can just see a smoke stack over his left shoulder. Years later he unknowingly poses the same way in the very same spot. Play ball in the slide show to the right or catch it here: Picasa Web Albums -

The Marini's

sAs you scroll you'll this post you'll notice it's rather long after I combined several posts. It's easily read.
It begins with various 8mm movies, moving into Clara's cooking (a most flavorful post), followed by their 50th Anniversary, vintage photos and the full list of Marini movies.
Clara, Dan, Janet & Linda with Eddie & the kids, along with Dan's brothers.
My favorite image in the video is of Uncle Dan on Christmas opening a metal box made to store his 8mm movies.
Following his passing Aunt Clara passed the responsibility unto me to store them to DVD & now online. This is not in date order, as it was near impossible with the many reels. When you watch the video look at the very end as Dan films the outside of their house. Decades later it still looks the same. YouTube - Marini 8mm Home Movie Part 1

Short unknown clip I call:
Dan Marini recorded about 16 minutes worth of Pleasantville family footage from the late 50's to early 60's, which no one (in NY) knew existed, not even those featured in the 8mm. In fact he captured several important family events.
What makes this most important today is the original 8mm films are GONE. Disposed of after they were transferred, all that remains are two badly worn VHS tapes from the late 80's. I have since archived the files from those tapes. Below you'll see:
Doug's wedding, myself about 4 years old driving a car, Easter at my house, Diane as a BLOND, the day before & after Marie's wedding aka the Blizzard of '69..
Also mixed in with his daughter Linda's many reels from 45 years ago was the only known footage of Donald's wedding, which no one (in NY) including Donald
& Barbara knew of until I asked to transfer her 8mm. Unlike Dan's links which are VHS tapes this is the original film:

25th &40th Anniversary!

The family portrait at the 50th Anniversary.

Here's the first half of Clara & Dan's 50th, from August 18th 1990. Although I recorded this, I did not keep the original. Instead I gave it to Clara & Dan. Over the years I forgot about it until Aunt Clara mentioned she still had the video.
The photos below are taken from the video. The hands are quicker than the eyes, & Frank tries to prove it. This happens at 4:20. As I begin to focus on Robbie & Pat Camilli, I notice Frank's right hand (& I can tell where's it's going). He pulls Kathy's belt to untie her dress but Kathy's too quick for him, grabbing his hand before he can.

Donato Marini comes to AMERICA!
I guess Dan (left) WITH CIGARETTE & his brother also with a smoke, (No. This is not photoshopped), must've need a good smoke to relax them before the long trip to America. Dan entered the states as shown above when he was 15. He's about 8-10 here so he must've been really relaxed! Or wired...without cigarettes on board.
Click on each picture to view/print full size. Badly spoiled by water marks, dust & tears, I have restored this vintage Marini photo in b&w & sepia. Recently found was the additional photo taken that day. The children are without hats but Mrs. Marini is now wearing "fur."

The backdrop is just that, a fake background very common for portraits during this period. However imagine the photo taken in San Dona to. It might've looked more like this one "pictured," above in the old country. I've also taken the ship's document, blending it with the San Donato photo:
The next two offer a custom blend of the photo with the ship's manifest including the ship itself:

Clara & Dan meet for the first time!

This 1959 "hand made time card," was found in a cabinet in Clara & Dan's garage in 2012. Some 53 years later!

This is Clara and  Dan's 50th FULL LENGTH Anniversary video can be viewed &/or download below.
To download just click the Mpeg2 link once you open the video & save it to your hard drive:

The 1st video was recorded by myself, the other by Frank Patane.
If you have email addresses &/or phone #'s of someone featured in these videos (especially on the Marini side, many of whom I do not know) please forward or show these to them.

Frank's video jumps a bit at x's. I've adjusted the tracking but cannot stop it from doing so. On the upswing he & Marie asked guests to say a few words & there are some gems. Especially Chris Gentile's mother who at that time was 90 & doesn't understand what's going on so she puts the mic to her ear saying hello like she's talking on the phone!
Considering most of the video's online are of 8mm it's wonderful to hear everyone's voices.

Tocci Marini:
A combination of my parent's & my brother Doug's restored 8mm with Dan Marini's Pleasantville visits.
Dan's films are long gone with only a fading VHS copy available. The VHS (vob) files were pulled/converted/enhanced to the best possible quality. Dan's near 16 minutes of Pleasantville footage intertwines with ours in chronological order.
